The end, or a new start?

Every three years, Elections Canada asks us to prove that we have a minimum of 250 members in the Rhinoceros Party. Throughout our 59 years of existence, we have distributed thousands of membership cards, membership is free, and we give out lifetime membership cards. Anyone who wants to become a member becomes one automatically. Wondering how you can become a member? You already are!
Even though there are thousands of us and it is very easy to become a member, the only way to “prove” to Elections Canada that there are more than 250 of us is by filling out a PAPER form, made by Elections Canada. [Note: if you filled out our “Rhinoceros” form with the party logo, unfortunately it was refused by Elections Canada, who asked us to use theirs… so please fill it out a second time! sorry…]
Currently, we are up against the wall. If we do not have the requested forms within more or less 10 days, the Rhinoceros Party of Canada will be deregistered. I don’t have the energy to deal with this anymore. I will be sad when the party disappears, but I will not work to rebuild it.
On the other hand, if I receive the 250 forms requested in my emails by mid-November, I will do everything to ensure that the Party survives.
The future looks bright:
- A memorable by-election will take place this December in the riding of Mississauga – Lakeshore. I will be candidate! And if all goes well, I will even go there to campaign!!! Lots of fun and big party!!
- 2023 will mark the 60th anniversary of the party. We don’t know yet what we’re going to do, but we absolutely have to do it!
- We will make major changes to the internal organization of the party. Currently, everything rests on the shoulders of a few people, and that is unsustainable. A major reform is due to take place in 2023.
Until then, can we survive? Can you print a sheet of paper, sign it, and send it back to us by email (scan or photo with your cell phone)???

Instructions for triennial confirmation
1. Print the following PDF document:
(Elections Canada has stated that they will not accept electronic signatures)
2. Fill in the document with your information: Name, address, etc…
(the boxes already checked are the correct ones [ex. Type 2])
3. Scan or photograph the document
Take a nice clear photo with your phone
4. Email it to sebastien.corhino@gmail.com
5. (weeks later) Check your mailbox
In a few weeks, or even after Christmas, Elections Canada will select about 50 lucky people and send you a postal letter, yes yes, a real paper letter! The letter will ask you: “Did you really fill out this form?” It is very very very important to answer them “Yes, it’s me!”, and to send them the confirmation by mail or by email or text message, the instructions are very clear in their letter.
If you don’t answer their mail, they consider our forms to be fraudulent and then they tell us “it’s not even true that you have members!”. I swear. It’s as stupid as that. And we don’t want that.
